Objective 1: "To provide effective liaison and representation of the OPM in the outer islands by Government Representatives"

"No te tukuanga i te tauturu tau mei roto atu i te Kavamani ki te iti tangata i runga i te enua i tai mai"

Each Government Representatives of the Outer Islands are situated on their own respecful islands, they are directly responsible to Diane Charlie-Puna - Director of Corporate Services:

Aitutaki, Atiu, Mangaia, Manihiki, Mauke, Mitiaro, Palmerston, Penrhyn, Pukapuka/Nassau and Rakahanga

  • They provide assistance when Government VIP's from Rarotonga or overseas visit their islands.
  • They report to the Office of the Prime Minister of any meetings, workshops, projects and others events happening or that may happen in the near future on their islands.

One of the GR's vital role is to keep the Office of the Prime Minister updated and informed of what is happening in the outer islands more importantly the progress and status of Government projects.  These are provided to us in a monthly report.  The Office of the Prime Minister will then submit an Information Paper to Cabinet of what is happening in the outer islands.  Basically the GR's are our eyes and ears in the outer islands.
